Outlander fans can finally put their "droughtlander" fears to rest!

Starz announced Wednesday that the epic series is being renewed for two more seasons. The network also confirmed that seasons 3 and 4 will cover the next books in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander novel series, Voyager and Drums of Autumn.

"Outlander is like nothing seen before on television," Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said in a statement. "From its depiction of a truly powerful female lead character, to the devastating decimation of the Highlander way of life, to what is a rarely seen genuine and timeless love story, it is a show that not only transports the viewer, but inspires the passion and admiration of its fans."

The announcement did not cover how many episodes each season would contain or when they would air, though. While the first and second season both contained 16 episodes, the series split its first season into two halves that aired in the fall and the spring. The current sophomore season is running straight through — and outperforming its predecessor, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The network could pick either strategy for the upcoming seasons.
