There are few producers busier than Julie Plec, who has the weight of The CW on her shoulders. Plec is behind that network's smash hit The Vampire Diaries, as well as two freshman series this season: The Tomorrow People and The Originals. In The Originals (Tuesdays, 8/7c), a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, Plec moved Vampires baddie Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and his bloodsucking siblings to New Orleans, a city they helped build. TV Guide Magazine: I have time to watch one more show. Tell me why it should be yours.
Julie Plec:
Because you get family drama, romance, tragedy, action, suspense and creepy stuff all in one show.

TV Guide Magazine: Who should be watching?
Plec:
I've heard there are 8-year-olds watching The Vampire Diaries, but no 8-year-olds should be watching either show. Horrible. Too young. Go to your room. This show is for your parents, your grandparents, your older brothers and sisters, and your crazy uncle.

TV Guide Magazine: What happens if we don't watch your show?
Plec:
Why you gotta be so aggressive? Just watch it. You'll like it. Promise.

TV Guide Magazine: Give us an equation for The Originals.
Plec:
The Vampire Diaries plus Carrie plus The Sopranos minus New Jersey plus The Addams Family minus Lurch, divided by all Merchant Ivory movies.

TV Guide Magazine: What's the best thing anyone has said or written about your show?
Plec:
My best friend's mom thinks Elijah [Daniel Gillies] is as sexy as Damon [Ian Somerhalder].

TV Guide Magazine: What's the worst thing?
Plec:
I've blocked it out. Not really. It haunts me.

TV Guide Magazine: What's an alternate title for your show?
Plec:
Three Vamps and a Baby.

TV Guide Magazine: Come up with a premise for the spin-off.
Plec:
The Dead Originals: Special Mardi Gras Edition, starring Kol, Finn and Henrik.

TV Guide Magazine: What credit of yours would you prefer we forget?
Plec:
I love all my children equally. But I'd be willing to send [the Christina Ricci movie] Cursed off to boarding school and only visit on birthdays.

TV Guide Magazine: Tell me one thing about your amazing cast.
Plec:
Prepared and professional and dedicated. That's three things, sorry.

TV Guide Magazine: If you weren't producing this show, what series would you most like to be an executive producer on?
Plec:
Hawaii: A Sprawling Saga of Early Retirement.

TV Guide Magazine: Let's scare the network. Tell us an idea that didn't make it on to the screen.
Plec:
It's Season 1, so we haven't had to dig into the embarrassing, desperate pitches yet. Besides, we may need them for Season 5, so no point spoiling them now.

TV Guide Magazine: Finish this sentence: "If you like _______, you'll love our show."
Plec:
Wickedly talented thespians who play a variety of supernatural beings with indeterminate accents.
