When The CW's One Tree Hillreturns Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 8 pm/ET, fans may be shocked to discover that the gang - last seen graduating high school back in June - is all grown up. Sparing us the cliché of sending everyone to the same college (hello, 90210), producer Mark Schwahn is instead doing the time warp. "The dreams they [had] as they graduated, we're now embarking on, four years later," he reveals.

Of course, all is not so dreamy for the farflung Tree Hillers. Brooke's booming clothing line has turned her into a bitchy Manhattan fashionista, Peyton's over L.A.'s music scene, Lucas' first novel is proving to be his last, and Nathan's pro-hoops career has hit the skids. But don't expect any speedy explanations as to how everything went so wrong, since Schwahn plans to take his time filling in the blanks. "We can flash back [for] an entire episode or we can just flash back to small moments." Or in one former Raven's case this evening, a huge moment that changes everything. - Damian Holbrook
