Olympic Figure Skater Evan Lysacek Won't Compete in Sochi

Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek will not be competing in Sochi, he announced on Today. "It's very difficult for me to say that, but my road to Sochi ends here," Lysacek told Matt Lauer on Tuesday. "It's been a difficult decision for sure. Right now my focus has to shift from training and preparing for Sochi ... to getting healthy and trying to heal this injury once and for all."

Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek will not be competing in Sochi, he announced on Today.

Lysacek, 28, has been injured since he won gold at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. He was recently undergoing physical therapy for a torn labrum in his hip. "The pain has become, in recent weeks, unmanageable," Lysacek said.

TV Couples: Hot or not?

Although he will sit the 2016 games out, the former Dancing with the Stars competitor says this isn't the end of his Olympic career. "The last several weeks have been so painful for me that I don't want those to be my last moments on the ice after such a great career," he said. "I'm determined to be healthy and skate again and really to be the one that decides when it's over."
