Nikita's Maggie Q Puts the Kibosh on the Nikita-Michael-Alex Love Triangle

Maggie Q assures fans: There'll be no love triangle on Nikita. The trio involves Michael (Shane West), who once trained Nikita — and has a romantic past with her — and Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca), his Division trainee who has graduated to agent. Nikita Scoop: Will Alex betray Nikita?

"I don't see the triangle," Maggie Q tells TVGuide.com. "She's 19! That would be kind of gross. I don't want to be on that show."

Q understands where the audience is coming from, though. Earlier in the season, when Michael was unsure whether Nikita was still alive, "he was overly caring about Alex," Q notes. "I remember reading some furious stuff on the Internet like, 'That better not happen! Gross! I'll stop watching this show!'"

"Here's the thing about Michael caring for the recruits the way he does, and singling Alex out: There was a time where Michael was in love with Nikita, there was something that happened there. Alex is almost a metaphor for what he couldn't do for Nikita."

It's not that Q is against some healthy competition, either. "If another woman comes into Michael's world, that would be fine. But Alex is a little young."

In the meantime, Thursday's new episode will feature a flashback to Nikita's Division days and her time with Michael. "We're going to see promises that were made between Michael and Nikita at that time," Q says. "We're definitely going to start unraveling their relationship soon. Michael and Nikita fans will be pretty happy in a few episodes. Toward the end of the season, they're going to start trusting each other again and they'll move toward a bit of a reconciliation."

Meanwhile, Alex will find a new love interest in hot neighbor Nathan, played by Thad Luckinbill. "He represents normalcy for her," Fonseca says. "He's a normal guy who's a DJ, lives in an apartment, and is this nice, solid guy. You wouldn't think Alex would be into someone like that, but he represents such stability and simpleness."

Nikita returns Thursday at 9/8c on the CW.
