Nigella Lawson's Husband Admits to Assault

Nigella Lawson's husband Charles Saatchi has admitted to assaulting his wife in a London restaurant, The London Evening Standardreports.

Saatchi, 70, originally characterized the photos taken of him choking Lawson, 53, on June 9 as a "playful tiff," but he accepted a police caution Monday, meaning that he has now admitted to the assault. If Saatchi had continued to deny the assault, he could have faced formal charges.

"Although Nigella made no complaint, I volunteered to go to Charing Cross station and take a police caution after a discussion with my lawyer because I thought it was better than the alternative of this hanging over all of us for months," Saatchi said.Lawson has since moved herself and their three children out of the family's shared home, but hasn't confirmed whether this will be a permanent move. Saatchi previously claimed that Lawson did so on his recommendation to avoid paparazzi attention.
