New Girlfans, rejoice: True American is returning!

The Fox comedy's fictitious drinking game with no real discernable rules will return in an episode slated for the end of January, and TVGuide.com has the exclusive first look! However, this round will be quite different from the first time we saw the game. Why?

"It is strip True American!" Jake Johnson tells us.

New Girl First Look: Nick and Jess share most awkward double date ever

As you can see in the photos below, Jess (Zooey Deschanel), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Nick (Johnson) will take part in the game — as will Winston (Lamorne Morris) — but (surprise!) they'll be joined by Daisy (Brenda Song) and Holly (Brooklyn Decker), the potential love interests for Winston and Nick and Schmidt, respectively. (Yes, the latter two boys fight for Holly's affections!)

But Nick's longing for Holly may be marred by a surprising turn in his relationship with Jess. "This is the episode that the dynamic changes for the first time," Johnson says of the roommates. "They're playing a drunken drinking game and things happen when you're playing drunken drinking games; emotions and everything changes, so they are in this game, and there is a big development between these two."

Are New Girl's Nick and Jess the new Ross and Rachel?

Of course, we're excited about the new developments between Nick and Jess, but seriously, are we ever going to learn more rules to True American? "I'm going to bottom-line it: No," Johnson says. "I'll give you the answer to this riddle. There are no rules. We've made the new fake rules, yes. Every season that we're on — and hopefully that is a lot — there will be new developments to the game, because we all like doing it. It is fun to shoot. The writers like writing it, and True American has become a fun fake game."

Are you excited to see strip True American?

New Girl airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Fox.
