Fox has embraced the New Girl on their Tuesday block. The network has ordered 11 additional episodes of the hit comedy — making New Girl the first freshman series to receive a full season pick-up.
"We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we're knocked out with the work that Liz Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the upcoming episodes in the pipeline," said Kevin Reilly, Fox's president of entertainment. "It's great that audiences have responded so positively so far and we're confident that even more people will embrace the show — and more comedy on FOX — this season."
New Girl stars Deschanel as Jess, a quirky school teacher who moves in with three guys after she finds her boyfriend cheating on her. The "adorkable" series premiered to 10.08 million viewers last week and pulled in 9.26 million viewers for its second episode on Tuesday. Wednesday's order brings the season total to 24 episodes.
New Girl airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Fox.
