"I think that there's always sort of a low-level feeling of missing being on the stage when I'm not on the stage," Neuwirth tells TV Guide Online. "I love my new job, Deadline, but I'm a theater rat, so that is really where I live."

Neuwirth — who will appear in a special Broadway-themed edition of Hollywood Squares the week of Nov. 13-17 — isn't knocking TV and film, however. "Everything else is really fun and I enjoy it and I give everything to it," the former Cheers star says, "but the place I'd rather be more than anywhere else is the stage."

Well, considering Deadline's less-than newsworthy ratings — Marc Berman of Mediaweek.com describes the show's Monday night performance so far as "sadly lackluster" — Neuwirth may be storming the boards sooner rather than later. But even if NBC renews the series, the Julliard alum may make a Broadway comeback during her summer hiatus.

"I have things that I would love to do, but they're sort of private between me and my agents," she teases, adding that her wish list does not include a current Broadway show.

And as far as bringing Lilith back to Frasier sometime this season, Neuwirth says that her prickly alter ego will be MIA for the time being. "I have no plans to [go back]," she says. "Not yet, anyway."
