More Than 40 Million Netflix Viewers Have Been Creepin' on YOU

The past two weeks have been strangely vindicating for everyone who has been obsessed with YOU since it premiered on Lifetime to disappointingly low ratings last fall; once the series debuted on Netflix in December, viewers flocked to the creepy stalker drama in droves. We just didn't realize how large those droves actually were until now.

On Thursday, Netflix did something nearly unheard of, sharing viewership numbers for a few of its newest series. According to the See What's Next Twitter account, which is run by Netflix, the streaming site expects YOU to be viewed by over 40 million members in its first four weeks.

YOU hit the streaming service on Dec. 26, and the reaction was almost instantaneous as people binge-watched Penn Badgley get his creep on. Badgley didn't exactly appreciate people sympathizing with his character, Joe, who stalked and murdered as he pleased in the name of obsessive love. But honestly, it seems like Netflix bingers are the real creepers here.

In addition to sharing numbers for YOU, Netflix casually shared some stats for its new British drama, Sex Education, which is also on track to be viewed by 40 million members in its first month on the service. Elite, the Spanish-language series that debuted in October apparently attracted more than 20 million households during its first four weeks. Not too shabby, Netflix!

YOU is currently streaming on Netflix.
