Netflix knows subscribers share their passwords with family members and friends. But instead of trying to shut down this habit to make more money, the streaming service has added multiple profiles for each account, The Associated Press reports.
For no extra cost, each Netflix account can now feature a maximum of five separate profiles, enabling a better, individualized recommendation system. The profiles also have the option of linking to a user's Facebook account, allowing members to share what they've been watching.

As of now, Netflix profiles are only available on the website, iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and some smart TV models. It may take up to two weeks before the profile choice appears on these platforms. By the end of August, Netflix expects the feature to be available on Wii and to have it available on Android before the end of the year. Unfortunately for Roku users, it won't likely be available until early next year.Netflix believes its customized recommendation system is its biggest asset when compared to Amazon.com, Hulu and Redbox. By creating profiles, the company believes it will only help them gain an advantage over these rivals.
