Tuesday's episode of NCISmarked the first one the series has aired since showrunner Gary Glasberg's sudden death last week.

The episode, which also featured the return of Dr. Grace Confalone (Laura San Giacomo), was filmed and finalized well before Glasberg's passing, so his death was not addressed in the plot. But at the end of the episode, a tribute card from the cast and crew appeared onscreen.

"Gary was our rock, our cheerleader, our team captain," it read. "He inspired us with his leadership, his creative instincts and keen insight. NCIS will not be the same without him, and each of us will miss his smiling face and unwavering humor, which lifted us every day."

Sources tell TVGuide.com that Glasberg's death will not result in NCIS taking any sort of hiatus this season, as episodes are completed weeks in advance. However, there's still no word on who will take over showrunner duties. Glasberg has helmed the series since 2011.
