24 totally unnecessary spin-offs
The seven actors joining the cast are Ariane Rinehart (Liesl), Michael Nigro (Fredrich), Ella Watts-Gorman (Louisa), Joe West (Kurt), Sophia Caruso (Brigitta), Grace Rundhaug (Marta) and Peyton Ella (Gretl).
Also co-starring in the production are Audra McDonald (Mother Abbess), Laura Benanti (Elsa Schrader) and Christian Borle (Max Dettweiler).
The three-hour broadcast is executive-produced by Smash's Neil Meron and Craig Zadan and will premiere Thursday, Dec. 5 at 8/7c on NBC.
