If you're still grieving Tom on The Blacklist, NBC's new medical drama might help make the mourning process a little bit easier. Ryan Eggold returns to the network to headline New Amsterdam, a character-driven drama about a maverick doctor at a hospital based on Manhattan's (in)famous Bellevue Hospital.
The Blacklist alum stars as Dr. Max Goodwin, the new director of the hospital whose unorthodox method disrupts the status quo as he prioritizes patient care above all else. While juggling his work duties and trying to reform the healthcare system one patient at a time, Dr. Goodwin will also be faced with his own medical struggle after being diagnosed with cancer.
Inspired by the memoir Twelve Patients: Life & Death at Bellevue Hospital, fans can expect some pretty wild cases on the new NBC series. Located in the heart of New York City, New Amsterdam Hospital is capable of treating everything and everyone from Ebola patients to Rikers Island prisoners to even U.S. presidents.
