NBC has given pilot orders to a The Money Pit remake and an ensemble comedy from Grey's Anatomy executive producer Mark Gordon, TVGuide.com.
The Money Pit is inspired by the 1986 Amblin Entertainment film starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long, which in turn was a remake of the 1948 film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. The pilot is a humorous look at a newlywed couple biting off more than they can chew as they navigate the challenges of modern romance while their dream home crumbles around them. The Office's Justin Spitzer will write and executive-produce the multi-cam comedy alongside Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.
Fifth Wheel is an ensemble comedy about a tight-knit group of friends and in particular follows a young woman who confronts her new reality after her last single friend gets engaged. Heidi Niedermeyer and Elena Crevello will write and executive-producer alongside Gordon and Andrea Shay.
