Over the last 10 seasons, the Mythbusters have tested 885 myths (complete with 815 explosions and 43,500 yards of duct tape!), but now Jamie Hyneman, Adam Savage and the rest of the team are heading back to the desert to revisit their very first experiment: the JATO rocket car.
This myth was first busted in 2003 when a Chevy Impala strapped with jet-assisted rockets failed to reach 300 mph and become airborne. But with a few modifications, including updated technology and a launch ramp, the Mythbusters are determined to succeed this time around.
Check out the exclusive video below featuring the final heart-pounding seconds leading up to the moment of truth. To see if the myth was once again busted, tune into the season premiere this Wednesday at 9/8c on Discovery.
