ABC's midseason procedural Motive returns for its sophomore season Wednesday, and Angie's (Kristin Lehman) work life gets disrupted right off the bat when she gets an unwelcome blast from the past in the form of Sgt. Mark Cross (Warren Christie), who's brought in to lead the homicide team.
"They had a really passionate romance and were each other's first partner out of the academy," Lehman tells TVGuide.com of the connection between the two. "They're very different people and they're thrown together again and he's her boss."
It's clear that the addition of Mark will throw Angie for a loop this season — and their oil-and-water dynamic quickly becomes apparent to their colleagues. In the exclusive clip below, Angie attempts to convince Vega (Louis Ferreira) that they'll be totally fine to work together. Uh-huh.
