Mitt Romney Says He Would Consider Doing SNL If It's Funny

Mitt Romney

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has one simple requirement for a possible Saturday Night Live appearance: It has to make him laugh.

In an interview on ABC's World News Tonight, the former Massachusetts governor said he was considering appearing on the late-night sketch show. "I haven't made a decision on that, just heard about it," he told Diane Sawyer. "Of course it would depend on the nature of the skit. I want it to be funny."

Romney said he has been recording Saturday Night Live and complimented cast member Jason Sudeikis, who has been impersonating Romney on the show for months. "He's very good; Jason's very good," Romney said.

One person Romney declined to praise? President Barack Obama. Romney avoided a question as to whether he thought he was funnier than the president. "I have no idea how funny he is in real life," Romney said.

In recent months, Romney has poked fun at himself several times on national television, including appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Show with David Letterman.
