Third time is not the charm for Mitt Romney. Two weeks after announcing his interest in yet another presidential run, he has changed his mind, The Los Angeles Times reports.

"After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, I've decided it is best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity to become our next nominee," Romney announced in a call Friday morning.

Romney, who ran against President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, told Republican National Committee members on Jan. 16 that if he ran again he would change his platform to focus more on people of need.

"I believe in the post-Obama era we need to stand for safety, and for opportunity for all people, and we have to stand for helping lift people out of poverty," Romney said.
