Miss Venezuela was crowned the Miss World title.
"I'm incredibly happy for this moment, for this opportunity and for winning and I'm grateful with my life," Ivian Sarcos, 22, told AFP.
Sarcos beat out 122 other women Sunday night in London to take over the reigning crown from Alexandria Mills of the United States. Gwendoline Ruais of the Philippines was named the runner-up with Amanda Perez of Puerto Ricko coming in third.
AFP also reported that some 50 protesters carried placards outside that said "Objectification won't achieve world peace," and "Being a woman is not a competition" — and some of the same people were part of an anti-Miss World demonstration in 1970 when stink bombs were hurled on stage.
