Miley, Hayden and More Have a Good Ol' Slime at Kids' Choice Awards

Shrieks and slime filled UCLA's Pauley Pavilion as Jack Black, Miley Cyrus, Shia LeBoeuf, Jessica Alba and many, many more took center stage at the annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. The first victim claimed by the green goo was Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford, but before the night was over Mummy star Brendan Fraser and heartthrob Orlando Bloom would also be covered in gooey goodness.

The orange carpet, with its usual displays of playful fashion and eardrum-busting noise, was a chance for celebrity parents to share the spotlight with their kids. Brad Garrett ( 'Til Death)and Jodie Foster had both claimed tickets after taking part in kid friendly movies. For Garrett the question wasn't whether playing Underdog gave him more clout with his kids than tickets to the show, "Being the animated dog helped get tickets for this show. I'm a big kid, too, so I love it!" Foster, who has only made one movie her kids are allowed to watch, told TV Guide this night would make her "supermom," if only for one day.

Jordin Sparks represented American Idol in sky-high platform Giuseppe Zanotti heels and orange highlights but told TV Guide she wasn't rocking her streaks purely for the event. "I dyed it orange for my mom's best friend. She has melanoma so we dyed our hair and painted our toes and nails to raise awareness for her." Miley Cyrus arrived in a glittering Stella McCartney dress that definitely wasn't slime-appropriate, "I hope I don't have to be [slime ready]. I'm nervous, I tell you. I want no slime going on my dress!" the hardest working teen in show business said before taking home awards for both Favorite Female Singer and Television Actress.

Hayden Panettiere made her slimeless appearance as presenter en route to the Genesis Awards, where she would be awarded for her work with the Whaleman Foundation "The [award shows] are so different that it's so much fun to have the two to go to. This is much more upbeat and fun, being around the kids, and the whales are something I'm so passionate about. It's so flattering."

The biggest blimp of the night went to Cameron Diaz, who was presented with the Wannabe Award. "It makes me feel like I really need to step it up," she told TV Guide. "To be able to be an example of something that might be influential to the kids and make them want to try something and take that leap it's a wonderful honor to accept."

The after party proved that sugar-high kids can still make noise after more than two hours of screaming, but it was once and for all confirmed that having celebrity parents does not mean that you can get away with murder. Brad Garrett and his kids politely waited in line to shoot hoops while Jodie Foster disciplined her older son outside the party tent. Superparents, indeed. - Carita Rizzo
