Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Officially End Engagement

After months of reported tension, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have officially split up, People reports.

Cyrus, 20, and Hemsworth, 23, have ended their engagement after four years together. Hemsworth proposed in May 2012 with a 3.5-carat diamond ring from jeweler Neil Lane. The news comes after several reported breakups for the on-and-off couple, who met on the set of 2010's The Last Song.

Cyrus has been in the headlines recently as of late, thanks to her foam-finger-friendly performance with Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV VMAs and her revealing new "Wrecking Ball" music video, which has amassed more than 107 million views online since its Sept. 9 debut.

Ahead of the debut of her new album, Bangerz, Cyrus will serve as the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live on Oct. 5. Hemsworth will next appear in The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire, which comes out in November.
