Huge Disney stars Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato got the crowds dancing and singing at the Kids' Inaugural concert in Washington, D.C., but it was Michelle Obama who really pumped up the audience — many of whom were military families invited to attend the concert for free.
"Barack and I are so thankful for the military sacrifice that helps make our nation safe," she told the audience on the eve of her husband's presidential inauguration. "We join you all today and every day in praying for your loved ones and their safety."
Obama's excited and smiling daughters, Sasha and Malia, took photos of their mom on stage and their favorite performers.
During her short address, Obama called on children to help out, even in small ways. "We need every American to serve their community including young people. Whether that is volunteering at a homeless shelter or visiting an elderly person, whether it is picking up trash, writing letters to our troops, we can all do something special," she said.
The Obama girls rose from their seats several times to sing along with Miley and Demi Lovato. Later in the evening, the Jonas Brothers brought Malia and Sasha up on stage (with some burly secret service men in tow) to enjoy the music.
