Michael Lohan Formally Charged with Domestic Violence

Michael Lohan has been charged with domestic violence, People reports.

Lohan, 50, has been charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic violence following his arrest Monday night in West Hollywood, Calif. He was apprehended after a female victim, reportedly ex-girlfriend Kate Major, accused him of hitting her.

He was originally arrested for three felonies, including false imprisonment, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office opted not to pursue those charges.

Lohan was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Tuesday afternoon for unrelated problems. He is due back in court for his arraignment on May 23. His daughter, Lindsay Lohan, is also due back in court soon after she was accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace in January and also for violating her probation.

Lohan recently joined the cast of VH1's Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
