Heche will play Susan Rodriguez-Jones, the new anchor at the New York NBC affiliate where Fox's character, Mike, returns to work after taking a five-year break to battle Parkinson's. The character is described as "sharp, savvy and tough-as-nails." She also happens to be a rival of Mike's after she somehow lost him in the Everglades when they worked together in Orlando years prior.
Heche most recently headlined NBC's short-lived comedy Save Me. She is also known for her work on Men in Trees and Hung.
The Michael J. Fox Show premieres on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 9/8c on NBC.
