Mega Buzz: Will Dr. Lecter Be Captured During Hannibal's Third Season?

And just who is hunting him?

After the bloodbath of Hannibal's Season 2 finale, Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is now one of the world's most wanted men. But don't expect that to slow the good doctor down.

"Hannibal is running, but he's not hiding," Mikkelsen told TVGuide.com during a recent visit to the Toronto set. "His vanity will always bring him into the public light somehow."
Of course, when he resurfaces, he'll have plenty of people looking for him. For starters, Will (Hugh Dancy) will seek answers from Chiyo (Tao Okamoto), the servant of Hannibal's aunt, Lady Murasaki, in Hannibal's native Lithuania. Meanwhile, Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) teams up with Italian Inspector Pazzi (Fortunato Cerlino) while Alana (Caroline Dhavernas) turns to a dangerous and unexpected ally in her own hunt for Lecter. (Alana's romantic pairing this season will raise some eyebrows as well!)

And even though creator Bryan Fuller says Hannibal has changed after having his heart broken by Will's betrayal, his obsession with Will might ultimately be his fatal flaw. "He is very much trying to define himself outside of his relationship to Will Graham, but he keeps being drawn back to that dynamic because it's unlike anything he's experienced in his life," Fuller says.

Could that lead to Hannibal's capture? The third season does feature the Red Dragon story line, which traditionally features Hannibal behind bars. Either way, Mikkelsen seems game. "We should not forget the fact that Hannibal has an ability to go into his mind palace, whenever he wants to," he says. "So being incarcerated isn't necessarily the end of the story for him."
