Meanwhile, coach's wife Tami has her hands full with problem student Epyck and their daughter Julie runs off to Chicago for a rendezvous with one of coach's most beloved former protégés.
The Glee Project(Sunday, 8/7c, Oxygen)
It's a Gleek-for-all in this engaging new reality competition series, where the stakes couldn't be higher as 12 show-biz wannabes vie for a role in the next season of Glee. Not just a walk-on, but a seven-episode arc. (Underwritten characters like Mercedes and Mike Chang might kill for such exposure.) The challenges reflect what a madhouse producing Glee must be, as the young contestants quickly learn songs and choreography, head into recording studios and video shoots. The bottom three face the most nerve-wracking test of all: performing in front of series creator Ryan Murphy, who makes the final call — and cut.
The 65th Annual Tony Awards(Sunday, 8/7, CBS)
With Neil Patrick Harris returning as host — and performing from a recent concert version of Company alongside such co-stars as Stephen Colbert, Martha Plimpton and Mad Men's Christina Hendricks — expect a night full of Broadway show-stoppers. The big question is how front-runner musical The Book of Mormon (the hilariously filthy and wildly irreverent smash-hit from South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone) will play on TV. It's going to sweep the musical awards, so it will definitely be in the spotlight. The acceptance speeches ought to be fun — and could keep the network censor busy. As the year's front-running musical revival has been known to sing, "Anything Goes."
Game of Thrones(HBO, 9/8c, Sunday)
In time-honored HBO tradition, the next-to-last episode of any given season is when you should expect major game-changers to occur. And so it is for this exhilarating adult dark fantasy. Look for the exiled princess Daenerys to confront a new challenge in her reign over the Dothraki hordes and for the imprisoned Ned Stark to face another turning point in his stand against the new king's court. Meanwhile, his son Robb's war against the Lannisters heats up.
