Mary J. Blige's Father in Critical Condition After Stabbing

Mary J. Blige's father is currently in critical condition following a domestic dispute with his former girlfriend, BattleCreekEnquirer.com reports.

Early Thursday morning, Thomas Blige, 63, was stabbed three times, including once in the neck. Police arrived and Blige was transported to the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich., where he underwent surgery.

His ex-girlfriend was arrested when she was found in her nearby apartment in blood-spattered clothing.

Detective Sgt. Jim Martens says Blige saw the woman deflating his tires outside his apartment and went to confront her. The couple's argument escalated and she stabbed him.

This is not the first time police have handled domestic dispute complaints between the pair. Blige and his 50-year-old ex have had several incidents since August. In October, she hit Blige in the head with a glass candlestick and was placed on six months' probation on Jan. 10. The woman was ordered to have "non-assaultive" contact with Blige.

The woman is expected to be arraigned Friday in Calhoun County District Court.
