Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Destroyer of Worlds Isn't Who We Thought

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finally decided who was going to get infused with all that Gravitonium and inherit its world-destroying superpowers... and it was so not who we expected.

The Lighthouse fell under siege this week, and Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the crew were locked inside with some seriously terrifying aliens. These unstoppable creatures tore their way through the bunker, killing a bunch of faceless S.H.I.E.L.D. agents -- sorry dudes -- and backing our heroes into a corner. When all hope looked lost, one person decided better the devil you know than the bloodthirsty monsters you don't.

General Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) realized that everyone inside the Lighthouse would die unless he took one for the team and entered the chamber that would infuse him with Gravitonium -- and possibly drive him insane. Well, more insane than he already was?

He underwent the agonizing fusion process, and when he came out, he had enough power to crush each and every one of those aliens with a flick of his wrist.

What Does Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Latest Death Mean for Daisy?

There's no telling why he was able to withstand the mental assault that drove Ruby (Dove Cameron) to the brink of insanity, though it could have something to do with his former brain injury or his Hydra programming. Nevertheless, he seemed remarkably calm and in control as he slaughtered SHIELD's enemies and busted the team out of the sealed Lighthouse.

The question remains now: Is Talbot the Destroyer of Worlds?

We're still missing a key puzzle piece in this mystery, which is how Daisy (Chloe Bennet), the Gravitonium and the destruction of the planet all connect, and now that we've thrown Talbot into the mix, it's somehow even harder to suss out where this all goes wrong. If Talbot took in all the remaining Gravitonium though, it's probably safe to say that Daisy won't be absorbing any, which is how everyone figured this whole mess happened in the first place.

So does mean Talbot will be the one to tear the world apart? And how does Coulson's illness factor in anyway?Will the real Destroyer of Worlds please stand up?
