Marlon Wayans is launching a new comedy website called WhattheFunny.com, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Wayans is partnering with producer Peter Coleman and Funny or Die founder Randy Adams for the new project. "If Funny or Die is the Saturday Night Live of the web, what we're trying to do is the In Living Color of the web," Adams said. Added Coleman: "There is a huge underserved market and we will appeal not only to African-Americans, but to Latinos and all fans of hip-hop."
"[This is a] playground for my family and for all comedians who have something funny they want to do," Wayans said. "Eventually [this] will be the new network everyone watches."
The new site, which is slated to launch in late 2013 or early 2014, will feature short-form content. But unlike Funny or Die's compilation of one-off videos, the new site will present content as series, with new installments added on a regular day and time. "We believe that is the way to build a fan base that's attached to a particular series, those comedic talents and whatever the sketch is about," Coleman said.
