MAKE WAR, NOT LOVE

Think moviegoers are tiring of war-themed films? Think again. Mel Gibson's Vietnam War saga We Were Soldiers debuted at the top of the box office, grossing $20.2 million. The Josh Hartnett romantic comedy, 40 Days and 40 Nights, opened at No. 2 with a respectable $12.5 million. Rounding out the top five: John Q (No. 3 with $8.4 million), Dragonfly (No. 4 with $6.8 million) and Return to Never Land (No. 5 with $6.5 million). Last weekend's No. 1, vampire pic Queen of the Damned, bit the dust in its second weekend of release, plummeting to sixth place with $5.8 million.
