This story has been a rollercoaster of emotions
If you thought Maisie Williams spilled the latest clue about the Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere date, think again.
Williams took to Twitter this afternoon to refute the claims that she gave away the news that Game of Thrones would premiere in April 2019 in an interview. "Just a tweet letting you know this game of thrones release date 'quote' I've supposedly given is completely false and taken from an interview I did years ago," she wrote.
The quote in question came from the UK paper Metro. In it, Williams' said that shooting for Season 8 would wrap in December and the first episode would air in April.
It was definitely an unusual way for a premiere date (or even a premiere month) to be announced, but Sophie Turner had a similar slip, in which she confirmed that the new season would premiere in 2019 just weeks before HBO shared the news publicly.
HBO had no comment.
