Madonna Has "Low-Key" 50th Birthday Celebration

For such a big character, Madonna's 50th birthday party was quite the opposite. The Material Girl blew out 50 candles on Saturday at London club Volstead with about 90 family and friends by her side in a "low-key" celebration, a source told People."It was a small party," the source said. "A private event for her close family and friends. It was low-key."The man behind the soiree was none other than husband Guy Ritchie, who, according to Britain's The Sun, beamed with pride when toasting his wife of nearly eight years."She looks better now than she ever has done," the 39-year-old Ritchie said. "I'm so proud. I love her so much." A grateful Madonna followed with a 30-minute "thank you" speech, and after that, it was time to hit the dance floor to party the night away — or until 3 a.m. at least — with her children, Lourdes, 11, Rocco, 8, and David, 2. The music of choice? Hers, of course. — Joyce Eng
