Madonna Apologizes for Calling Son a Racial Slur on Instagram

Madonna has apologized for calling her son a racial slur on Instagram. "I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram," Madonna said in a statement on Instagram. "It was not meant as a racial slur. I am not a racist. There's no way to defend the use of the word."

On Friday, the singer posted a picture of her son Rocco Ritchie, 13, boxing with a caption reading, "No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disn----."

According to Us Weeklyafter receiving massive backlash, Madonna removed the photo and then uploaded the same image with a new caption: "Ok let me start this again #get off of my d--- haters!"

Madonna has since changed her tone and is asking fans for forgiveness.

"It was all about intention. It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it's a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me."
