JAG Belle's Baby Plans
When actress Catherine Bell gave birth to daughter Gemma last year, JAG never acknowledged her pregnancy onscreen. Now that the CBS military drama has entered its 10th — and possibly final — season, Mac may end up in the family way, too!
As last season wrapped, Harm (David James Elliott) reminded Mac of the pact they made years ago to have a baby together if neither was married or spoken for by now. Unfortunately, he didn't know she was facing medical issues of a, well, feminine nature. "It's a slim chance that Mac could have a child," the 36-year-old Bell tells TV Guide Online, "but I like to believe in miracles. It doesn't look hopeful, but you never know. On TV, even when you're told you can't have a child, you have one anyway."
Funny how an eligible bachelorette like Mac has remained unwed this long. Of course, the lovely lieutenant colonel's men do keep dying on her — an issue she'll wisely explore in therapy. "Mac killed her ex-husband in self-defense," Bell recalls. "Then her boyfriend Dalton was killed by the psycho stalker who was in love with her. And her CIA-agent boyfriend Webb was lost at sea.
"You'd have to ask [executive producer Don Bellisario] why," she laughs. "I guess that's how he's saving Mac for Harm someday."
Naturally, they'll drag it out, but Bell promises
JAG fans some "juicy" romantic payoffs this season. "Harm finally opens up to Mac in a way he never has before," she teases. "He might [even say the L-word]. They have come close so many times but, for some reason, it's never been the right time. I think it's time."
