LL Cool J will serve as host of this year's Grammy Awards, ending several years of a no-host format, the Recording Academy announced Wednesday.

"I'm thrilled to be part of music's biggest night," LL Cool J said in a statement. "I will always have fond memories of my first Grammys Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true."

The show has not had a host since Queen Latifah in 2005.

A two-time Grammy winner himself, LL Cool J has hosted the live nominations concert since 2008, but this will be his first stint at the actual awards show.The 54th Grammy Awards ceremony airs live Sunday, Feb. 12 at 8/7c on CBS. Performers will include Kelly Clarkson, Foo Fighters, Adele, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift.
