The Olympic gold medalist, 28, shared a photo of her bruised and bandaged legs on Feb. 15, just days after undergoing surgery. "My knee looks...um...not very good....," Vonn tweeted alongside the the picture before joking about wearing long skirts this summer.

In addition to keeping her sense of humor during this difficult time, Vonn is also staying optimistic. In a Feb. 11 message, she called her surgery a "success" and promised that she would be back. "Surgery went very well yesterday and I'm recovering at home in Vail with my family. I want to sincerely thank everyone for their well wishes these last few days," she wrote in a post accompanied by a photo of her in a hospital bed with her family members by her side.
