Lindsay Lohan Arrested After Nightclub Fight

Lindsay Lohan has been arrested and charged with assault after allegedly punching a woman at a New York City club, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

According to police, Lohan began arguing with a 28-year-old female patron at Club Avenue early Thursday morning. The altercation soon escalated, with the actress reportedly punching the woman in the face.New York Daily Newsreports that the pair were both seated in the VIP section before the woman, whom the newspaper identifies as Tiffany Eve Mitchell, bumped into Lohan. After a brief exchange of words, the women returned to their separate booths until something triggered the actress to get back up and confront Mitchell physically.

Lohan has been issued a desk appearance and was released from the precinct at approximately 8 a.m. Thursday.

This isn't Lohan's first incident at Avenue. The actress was temporarily banned from the club in 2009 after she tweeted she had seen Justin Timberlake dancing with a woman who wasn't his then-girlfriend Jessica Biel.It's unknown how Lohan's most recent legal woes will affect her informal probation for stealing a necklace from a Los Angeles jewelry store.
