Lifetime to Air a Brittany Murphy Biopic

Brittany Murphy is the latest focus of Lifetime's posthumous biopic treatment. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Brittany Murphy Story will premiere on the network on Saturday, Sept. 6.

The film, starring Amanda Fuller, will follow Murphy struggling to break into acting in the '80s and '90s under pressure from her mother Sharon (Sherilyn Flynn). It will also cover Murphy's death in 2009 and her father's subsequent claims that the Cluelessstar was murdered.

A spokesperson for Sharon Murphy revealed she was not consulted for the movie and did not cooperate with production in any way. Lifetime's upcoming Aaliyah biopic is facing similar dissent from the family of the late singer, but upsetting the families of deceased celebrities seems to be inconsequential to the network.
