First Look: Lifetime Examines Anna Nicole Smith's Tragic Life

The tragic life of Anna Nicole Smith gets the Lifetime movie treatment on June 29 with Anna Nicole, starring 27-year-old Agnes Bruckner and 84-year-old Martin Landau as the starlet and her millionaire husband, J. Howard Marshall. (The real Marshall was 89 when he married Smith, 26, in 1994, 13 months before he died.) "Martin told me he met Anna Nicole through Hugh Hefner," Bruckner says, "so the first time I showed up on set, he looked at me with awe in the same way J. Howard probably looked at Anna."

The couple, Bruckner says, "needed each other. He made her feel special, and she took away his loneliness." The actress underwent a physical transformation to play the buxom Smith, adding facial, neck and breast prosthetics, fat suits and bluish death makeup. "The breasts took three hours to apply," she says. "It was unbelievable how they turned out. I could dance in them, and they even survived a swim in the pool."
