Empire's co-creator Lee Daniels is hoping to score again with a new music drama, Star. The new pilot will follow four young women who have dreams of hitting it big in entertainment and how the choices they make, especially in the face of the music biz's temptations, raise new challenges.

Producion on Star will begin in December, and the casting search has begun. Here's what we can expect for the four leading ladies:

Star: The tile character is a tough, 18-year-old white woman "with a badass attitude." Sounds like she doesn't fall far from the Cookie tree!

Simone: This is Star's half-black, half-white 16-year-old sister who is a combination of "tragic and adorable," natch.

Alexandra: She's a black woman about 20 years old and described as "an elegant yet classic beauty" who wants to make "authentic" music without the distractions of the material world.

Cotton: She is the fabric of our lives! Kidding. This 20-year-old half-black, half-latina transgender woman has a strong eye for fashion.

Fox will sing a different tune with Star

Earlier this year Lee Daniels teased that Star would be told from the performers' point of view, and could possibly cross over with Empire.
