Lauryn Hill Released After Completing Prison Term for Tax-Evasion

Lauryn Hill was released from a federal prison Friday after serving a three-month sentence for tax evasion, People reports.

"She was released several days early based on a number of factors the Bureau of Prisons takes into consideration, including good behavior," Hill's attorney Nathan Hochman told the magazine. "She will now start today a one-year period of probation with three months of home confinement during that year."

Short but sexy celebs

Hill, 38, was convicted in May of failing to pay almost $1 million in taxes from the years 2005, 2006 and 2007.  At the time, she told the judge she had always intended to eventually pay the taxes, but was unable to when she dropped out of the music business for a period of time.

After first breaking out as one-third of The Fugees, Hill earned acclaim and five Grammys as a solo artist when she released The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998.

Despite her time out of the limelight, Hill seems ready to return to the industry. She just released a new song, "Consumerism." Chris Schwartz, the CEO of her label Ruffhouse Records, told People that Hill "is ready to get back to work."
