Danny Simon, brother of playwright Neil Simon and a comedy writer/teacher in his own right, passed away on July 26 following complications from a stroke; he was 85. The Simon brothers' early career, writing together for radio and television, was fictionalized in the play Broadway Bound. They later became part of Sid Caesar's team of writers, alongside such rising stars as Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart and Woody Allen, who once said, "Everything I learned about comedy, I learned from Danny Simon." The late scribe's final credits included The Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes.
