The LAPD Is Testing a Knife Found at Site of O.J. Simpson's Former Home

The Los Angeles Police Department announced Friday that it's currently testing a knife found on the site of O.J. Simpson's home, which was razed in 1998. The Los Angeles Times reports that a retired police officer turned in the knife, given to him by a construction worker who helped in the demolition decades after the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

The LAPD's elite Robbery-Homicide division is involved and forensics are underway. Officials said at a press conference Friday that the officer who surrendered the knife was a traffic cop who was working on a movie set when he got the knife. Detectives became aware of it last month and are unclear why he waited so long to hand it over. The absence of the actual knife used in the killings has stumped investigators on the case since the 1995 trial.
