Keanu Reeves is heading to the small screen. The Matrix star will produce and star in the action series Rain, based on the book series by Barry Eisler, Deadline reports. This will mark his first time starring in a television show.

Reeves will play the title character John Rain, a Japanese-American assassin who makes his killings look like natural deaths.
Chad Stahelski, Reeves' Matrix stunt double, and David Leitch, who did stunt work in Reeves' 2005 film Constantine, will executive-produce along with Reeves and Eisler, according to Deadline. The project will be distributed and executive-produced by Slingshot Global Media and will serve as the fledgling company's launching pad. A writer has not yet been hired.
