Katy Perry Tops Forbes' Highest-Paid Woman in Music List -- But Where's Taylor Swift?

Who else made the top five?

Never mind that she hasn't put out an album since 2013: Katy Perry, who - lest we forget, totally killed the Super Bowl halftime show earlier this year - shot like a firework into the top spot on Forbes' list of the highest-earning women in music this year.

Thanks to a ginormous world tour, a steady stream of hit singles and high-profile endorsements, Perry snatched $135 million this year - grossing more than $2 million per city over the course of 126 shows.

"I am proud of my position as a boss, as a person that runs my own company," Perry told Forbes last year. "I'm an entrepreneur. ... I don't want to shy away from it. I actually want to kind of grab it by its balls."

Perry's taking of the top spot might come as a surprise considering the ubiquity of Taylor Swift, whose recent album 1989has sold more than 3.6 million copies. And while the $80 million she raked in this year can no doubt buy her plenty of vacays with her army of BFFs, it's not enough to unseat Perry. Swift placed right behind her rumored rival at No. 2. Now that is totally a cause for bad blood. According to Forbes, Perry shouldn't get too comfy: Swift's 1989 Tour is grossing well over $4 million per city, and doesn't appear to be losing momentum.

Fleetwood Mac, an unusual entry on this list since the band contains three men, comes in at third with $59.5 million, thanks largely to On With The Show tour that included 86 concerts. Lady Gaga, currently starring in American Horror Story,is fourth with $59 million; Beyonce rounds out the top five at $54.5 million.
