If you're one of the 90 million people who were impressed by the This Is Us trailer, the show is only upping its star power.
The NBC family drama centers on four adults whose lives are interconnected in various ways and features a stand-out cast that includes Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley. The show's executive producers announced during the Television Critics Association fall previews on Tuesday that they are adding to that appeal with some A-list guest stars.
Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) and Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) will appear in the show's second episode as a high-powered agent and a television network president, respectively, who are both involved in the career of TV actor Kevin (Hartley). They'll both work with Kevin after an incident on his show.
"Katey Sagal and Brad Garrett are coming in and doing parts. Katey is playing Justin's most high-powered agent. It's her take on Ari Emanuel. Brad is playing a powerful network president who Justin is going to have his moment with in the [second episode]," said executive producer Dan Fogelman. "We're getting a lot of high-caliber actors that are wanting to come in and play with our actors."
Fogelman also confirmed that Gerald McRaney will return for more episodes after stealing scenes as Rebecca (Moore) and Jack's (Ventimiglia) doctor in the pilot.
There may also be a chance for Ventimiglia's backside to appear again as it's widely credited for the success of the trailer. "We're showing his a-- in every episode," Fogelman joked. "He doesn't even have lines in the second episode."
This Is Us premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8/7c on NBC.
