Following Justified's Season 2 renewal, recurring guest star Walton Goggins has been promoted to series regular.

Justified renewed for second season

The 38-year-old actor, who plays white supremacist Boyd Crowder, was originally supposed to die in Justified's pilot. However, executive producer Graham Yost decided to extend Crowder's time on the series after his character scored well with test audiences.

"He's amazing and he's just a great guy. There had to be charm in Boyd.  We knew with Boyd, going in, that who we cast was critical for the success of the pilot, therefore getting it to become a series," Yost said. "So Goggins' casting was really instrumental. Without him, we wouldn't be on the air."

Justified: Walton Goggins breaks down the role that almost wasn't

Before Justified, Goggins starred in the FX crime drama The Shield. He will next be seen on the big screen in Robert Rodriguez's Predators.

Justified, which was the most-watched series premiere in FX history, will wrap its first season on June 8.
