You know the song "Jolene?" The Dolly Parton song? Netflix is making that into a TV movie. Julianne Hough from Dancing with the Stars is gonna play Jolene.

Variety reports that Hough is joining Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Dallas Roberts and Dolly herself in the "Jolene" episode of Dolly Parton's Heartstrings, an eight-episode anthology series based on the country icon's songs.

Hough -- whose prior acting roles include the Footloose remake and Grease: Live -- will play Jolene as "a flirtatious free-spirit with aspirations of escaping her small hometown of Coventry, GA to follow her dreams of becoming a successful singer-songwriter." According to Jim's Williams-Paisley will play Emily, the narrator of the song who gets pulled into Jolene's orbit, and Insatiable's Roberts will play Aaron, a loving husband and father on the verge of a midlife crisis. Parton will play Babe, the owner of the honky tonk where Jolene works as a waitress. It'll be a different take on the story from the song, as this "Jolene" will be about the unlikely friendship formed by the two women in the song's love triangle. A little more family-friendly than the emotionally raw adultery tale of the classic 1973 single.

What's New on Netflix in November

Each episode of the anthology will focus on a different one of Parton's songs, and Parton will introduce each one, singing to the camera about the meaning of the song. No premiere date has been set, but the series is scheduled for next year.

There's already a successful template for adapting Dolly Parton songs for TV. In 2015, NBC made a TV movie based on Parton's song "Coat of Many Colors" starring Alyvia Alyn Lind and Jennifer Nettles.
