Necessary Roughness has recruited a true TV MVP for its upcoming third season.

John Stamos is joining the USA drama for a season-long arc, the network announced Wednesday. Stamos 49, will play Connor McClane, the founder of a sports and entertainment management company-turned-global empire. A self-made man, Connor is eager to add Dr. Dani (Callie Thorne) to his rooster of sports, entertainment, fashion and music stars in light of her success with TK (Mehcad Brooks).

Necessary Roughness, which just wrapped its second season, narrowly escaped the Grim Reaper in January when it was renewed for a shorter 10-episode Season 3. However, there will be some changes when the show returns this summer. "They're really embracing blowing it out in the third season," USA Co-President Jeff Wachtel told TVGuide.com at the time. "We're really going to swing for the fences with that type of storytelling on Necessary."

Following his starring roles on Full House, ER and Jake in Progress, among others, Stamos has kept busy with recurring roles on Glee and The New Normal. He is also set to star in NBC's drama pilot I Am Victor.

Are you excited to see Stamos hit the field on Necessary Roughness? Do you think there will be sparks between Connor and Dr. Dani? Sound off below!
